Hello, I'm Kim Sunyoung, CEO of Healing Eye Clinic^^

I have worked as a clinical professor at The Catholic University of Korea Seoul St. Mary's Hospital.

Q. Doctor, LASIK has too many types of surgery. What's the difference between 'Smile LASIK' and 'Clear LASIK'?? What kind of surgery would be good?

I posted it because I thought it would be good to share the answer with you.

I hope you can refer to the answers below and decide which surgery is suitable for you.

A. To start with the conclusion, 'Smile LASIK' and 'Clear LASIK' are similar methods, and it is a completely different concept from the existing 'LASIK'

First of all, LASIK is a method of correcting vision with a laser after opening the surface of the cornea by cutting (12mm) in a circular shape like the image above.

Then the surgery ends by closing the corneal lid.

The surgery is then completed by cutting the surface of the cornea to a minimum size of 2 mm and removing any remaining residue.

This time, I will tell you the difference between Smile LASIK and Clear LASIK.

Unlike conventional LASIK, the existing Smile LASIK wears a device that fixes the patient's eyes so that they do not move during surgery.

During surgery, you may be nervous and unknowingly strain your eyes.

At this time, when pressure is applied to the eyes, it can be slightly out of place.

At this time, if you leave your seat at the moment the laser goes out, the laser may go out in the wrong position, and vision correction may not be performed properly.

Therefore, the result value should be 1.0, but it can be incorrect 0.8 or 0.7.

On the other hand, the newly emerged Clear LASIK is equipped with a "docking system" that can center the cornea like the existing LASIK LASIK laser.

In other words, even if the eyeball moves little by little during surgery, the machine identifies it in real time and irradiates the laser as it follows.

For your information, the Clear LASIK is a fourth-generation vision correction equipment that has just come out as an expensive equipment worth about 1 billion won.

Currently, the waiting time is very long, so even if I pay for it, I can't afford it right away

Clear LASIK is only available in 6 to 7 places in Gangnam, including 'HEALINGEYE CLININC'

You may wonder if it will be safe because not many people have received Clear LASIK.

Originally, the principle of clear LASIK is like smile LASIK, so there is a part where the basic principle has been verified.

It's also a role that complements the shortcomings of "Smile LASIK."

Also, the Clear LASIK is a laser equipment from a Swiss company called 'Zimmer'.

The company was the first to introduce the laser method in the surgery that performed the calo-lasik procedure,

For a long time, the technology and safety of the laser itself have been fully verified.

LASIK, Clear LASIK, Smile LASIK.. Which surgery is the best?

Of course, it's a good surgery with both advantages.

However, it is recommended to have surgery that suits you because it varies from surgery to surgery.

Let me give you a brief description of the characteristics.

In addition, there is a higher probability of side effects such as dry eyes and light smudging because the corneal incision is wider than Smile/Clear LASIK.

If you look at it like this, you will definitely think that smile/clear lasik is good,

Unfortunately, not everyone can get Smile/Clear LASIK.

In both ways, the laser reaches a little deeper into the cornea than conventional LASIK, so only those with thin cornea (those with poor eyes) may not be able to proceed.

(If the cornea is thin, it is difficult for the transmitting laser to reach the depth.)

Of course, I'd like to say that the best surgery is OO in this article, but..

Depending on your situation, there is a difference in the surgery you can recommend.

So rather than worrying about it right away, please visit an ophthalmologist who can give you an honest answer, get a test, and consult a doctor directly.
