I would recommend avoiding specific recommendations for LASIK clinics.

I've been thinking a lot about whether I should write this article or not.
But the reason I was convinced to write
I carefully searched for an ophthalmologist to entrust my once-in-a-lifetime eye surgery, but,
This is because many people must have felt frustrated because they could not find any proper information because of the articles armed with advertisements.
I am also a person who has undergone LASIK, and as an ophthalmologist who performs LASIK surgery on more than 10 people a day,
We fully understand the feelings of those who choose ophthalmology carefully.
So today, I would like to talk about the topic of 'I recommend avoiding this type of ophthalmology'.
At the bottom of the article, I even included 'what places to visit', so I hope you read it to the end.
To briefly introduce myself,
As the representative director and ophthalmologist of an ophthalmology clinic located in the Gangnam area, I have a history of serving as a professor at one of the top ophthalmology-related university hospitals (Catholic St. Mary's Hospital).

LASIK hospital recommendation

Your time is precious, so let's talk about the conclusion right away.

We do not recommend a place that specializes in 'LASIK 'only.

If 10 people come to our hospital to receive LASIK, how many people actually receive LASIK?

8-9 people?

Um.. It's a pity, but there are many times when there is not even 1 person.
Occasionally, many people come to receive LASIK unconditionally after hearing the words, 'LASIK is good' or 'LASIK is painful, so get LASIK'.
The problem is that LASIK cannot be performed on all patients even if they want to.
When you visit an ophthalmologist, you will first receive an eye examination by an optometrist.
Depending on the result (pupil size, corneal thickness, degree of myopia/astigmatism, etc.), it may be judged that it is not suitable for LASIK.

Let's take an example to help you understand.
For those with severe nearsightedness/astigmatism, the amount of vision correction is a little higher than that of average people, right?
An increase in the amount of correction means, in other words, that the cornea needs to be shaved off more.
If you shave too much, the side effect of 'keratoconus', in which the front part of the cornea becomes convex and swollen due to intraocular pressure, may occur.
So, for these people, we recommend 'LASEK' or 'lens implantation', which cuts the cornea relatively less.
(I think 7-8 out of 10 people who come to our hospital are like that)
As such, there are different surgical methods suitable for the eye condition of the person who wants to undergo surgery.
Rather than visiting a place that is only good at Lasik, I would like you to see a lot of various surgeries such as Lasek and Smile and check if they have been successfully completed. If that's the case, I think you might be able to think of this while reading the article.

If that's the case, I think you might be able to think of this while reading the article.

"Doctor, then which LASIK hospital should I recommend?"

Of course, I haven't been to all ophthalmologists across the country, so I can't pinpoint one, but I can't tell you.
At least I think I can tell you some criteria that will help you check when you visit.

Occasionally, when you visit an ophthalmologist, there is a place that claims that you will not receive any fees if side effects appear after surgery, called a 'lifetime guarantee system'.
It would be a good standard to visit a place that provides such a guarantee.
No matter how well the surgery was performed at the hospital, depending on how the patient manages, dry eyes, light smearing, and myopia regression may appear.
If you undergo revision surgery to treat these side effects again, you may end up paying more than the cost of the original surgery. (I've seen places that do up to 2-3 times)
It is said that the lifetime guarantee system manages even this part for free, isn't it pretty good?^^ (We are also operating)
In addition to this, there are many things I want to tell you a little bit.
If you are not sure which place to visit, please read the article below.

To help those who are looking for recommendations for LASIK hospitals,
I talked about 'Avoid these places!' and 'Visit these places!'^^
Of course, this article is my very personal opinion, so I would like you to think about it as a reference for choosing an ophthalmologist.
Occasionally, whenever I write an article that is helpful to so many people, there are often comments like 'What does the director do?'
I will attach an article that explains who I am well, so if you are curious, I hope you read it ^^
