"Is it possible to have reoperation after LASIK?"
“Will there be any side effects after taking it?”
I answered about 6,000 answers on Naver Knowledge in,
Among them, it seems that I received a lot of questions about 'revision surgery'.
So if I were to record all the answers to these people's questions on my blog,
I thought, 'Won't many people who actually need help like it?'
So today, I will write down all the tips (pain, cost, side effects of reoperation, etc.)
I hope you read to the end and get a lot of information ^^
To briefly introduce myself,
I am a 0.04% ophthalmologist in Korea and I am the representative director of an ophthalmology clinic located in Gangnam.
For more information about me, I will replace it with the text below, so please check it after reading this article.

Q1. Is revision surgery after LASIK really possible?
yes. Anything is possible
LASIK is a surgical procedure that corrects eyesight by removing the cornea. Sometimes, it is common for eyesight to deteriorate even after surgery.
In that case, if you cut the cornea a little, your eyesight will recover quickly.
If the remaining corneal thickness is sufficient after the first surgery, you can receive 3 or 4 more times.
However, there are often cases where the residual cornea of patients is not much left, or the cornea has a peculiar shape in a colorful way.
In the above situation, if revision surgery is carried out unreasonably, side effects of keratoconus, which can occur later due to thinning of the cornea, will appear.
(Keratoconus? It is a phenomenon in which the cornea is thin and swells due to intraocular pressure)
So in the case of these people, you need to correct your vision again through lens implantation.
Therefore, in order to determine whether or not reoperation is possible, you must first visit an ophthalmologist and receive a checkup.
Q2. How is the pain after reoperation after LASIK?
It doesn't hurt that much ^^
When you receive LASIK for the first time, you open the lid (slice) as shown in the picture below.
Another revision surgery is not so painful if the doctor lifts the cap (slice) cleanly.
In fact, the patients I received said that they almost fell asleep while undergoing surgery.
Q3. Are there any side effects from revision surgery?
Um... it's a pity, but...
there is.
Did you understand that LASIK is a surgical procedure that opens the lid (slice) and covers it again, just like the photo I showed you earlier?
If you undergo reoperation, the cap is lifted and released once more, and if the doctor twists it even a little at this time,
As shown in the picture below, there is a side effect that the epithelium grows in the corneal stroma. (This is called epithelial endogenesis in technical terminology)
This can happen even when you first receive it, especially when you undergo reoperation, and it often occurs, and it is a side effect that appears up to 20%.
So, I can say that the doctor's skill is a very important part, especially for reoperation.
Q4. What is the cost of revision surgery after LASIK?
Currently, the cost is measured slightly higher than the price at which the surgery was initially performed.
It's luck. It's tricky because the alcohol requires a lot of machines and the method needs to be a little more sophisticated.
Also, since the demand itself is not that high, most eye clinics do not have separate reoperation centers.
That's why I think the price is getting fiercer.
When I sometimes go to academic conferences and talk with the directors, they say that there are places that get double or even triple the existing price.
As the price skyrocketed like this... many people are unlucky. It is a situation where even if they want to receive alcohol, they cannot receive it.
I can't bear to just watch these people, so I'm helping them in a range that doesn't deviate too much from the existing surgery price.
Here, I would like to give you one more helpful tip.
If you have not yet undergone LASIK, it is recommended that you first look for a 'hospital where reoperation/surgery is possible'.
Among ophthalmologists who can drink alcohol, it is called 'lifetime liability guarantee system',
There is a place that gives you a guarantee that 'even if you lose your eyesight after surgery, we will perform the surgery again for free'.
If you visit a place like this, you can receive it without worrying about not being able to undergo revision surgery because of the cost.
If you have already undergone surgery, it would be a good idea to check if the place where you underwent surgery has the above guarantee system.
I'm filming to upload helpful content to YouTube ^^
So far, I have tried to answer the questions I have received a lot in Jisik-in.
And fortunately, in the case of LASIK, luck.
So, I would like you to think about LASIK at least once, rather than looking for alcohol only with LASIK.
The following contains information related to alcohol and luck after Lasek, so I hope you read it once.
