Hello, I'm Kim Sunyoung, CEO of HEALINGEYE CLINIC. 

Our HEALINGEYE CLINIC uses expensive LASIK & LASEK machines for the eyes of patients.

I will briefly introduce our equipment and tell you important things to consider when performing LASIK & LASEK surgery.



◆ LASIK: Clear LASIK / Amaris Red

The equipment that you're most curious about is, of course, the Clear LASIK. 

This device is currently used only in seven Gangnam hospitals in Korea, and is the fourth-generation vision correction equipment of ZIEMER FEMTO LDV Z8 in Switzerland. 

The biggest advantage of Clear LASIK is that surgery is possible with very few incisions. In the past, if a 20mm incision was required, the recovery speed is also very fast because surgery is possible with a 0.2mm incision.

In addition, there is a difference that the power to hold the eyeball is stronger than the conventional SMILE LASIK.

There is a device that fixes the eyeball during SMILE LASIK surgery, and if patients are nervous during surgery and move their eyes or apply force to the eyes, the fixed eyeball is often loosened.


If the eyeball is out of position, the laser aiming becomes unstable, so there is a possibility that the laser will touch the wrong place. This situation inevitably leads to bad results.

However, Clear LASIK has a very tight grip on the eyeball. 

Thanks to this, in general situations, there is no problem with fixation even if the patient moves the eyeball, which increases the likelihood that the patient will have a better prognosis. 

One more thing, Clear LASIK has added a "digital marker," a function that was not available in the previous method, allowing medical staff to control astigmatism with their own eyes. 

This function further increases the accuracy of the laser, which also increases the likelihood that patients will get good results.


Next, I'll introduce you to 'Amaris Red' in Germany.

Unlike Clear LASIK, it is one of the LASIK & LASEK machines that many hospitals have, and is used in both surgeries. 

The reason why this equipment is popular over other devices is because of the 'eye tracking function'. 

There was a problem that the functions inherent in the existing equipment could not keep up with the movement of the eyeball due to technical limitations.

In other words, conventional vision correction devices have not overcome the small time difference between the moment when the pupil moves and when the laser is irradiated.



But the amaris has a seven-dimensional eye tracking device. 

It is a method of finely and precisely grasping the instantaneous movement and rotation of the eyeball, predicting the movement in advance, and irradiating the laser when the eyeball reaches the position. 

It is characterized by a slight increase in the accuracy of the surgery because it has a program that predicts and aims, not a method of chasing the movement of the eyeball.



So far, I have explained the LASIK & LASEK machine in detail. 

However, the really important part is the eye examination equipment. 

Expensive state-of-the-art surgical equipment and the ability of the medical staff to perform the surgery are also very important, 

If the accuracy of the "eye" is not high when deciding how to proceed with the operation through the eye examination in advance, the operation itself may proceed in the wrong direction. 


Very small errors in the ophthalmic phase, which can result in low or over-corrections.


You may have heard of the method of performing the examination by increasing the size of the pupil by adding eye drops when undergoing an examination. This is to increase the size of the pupil to photograph the retina behind the eye. 

However, our hospital does not conduct tests in the same way as above.

Because the results of the surgery performed by eye examination often came out as low correction, so I compared the problems before and after using eye drops. 

Surprisingly, the difference in the results was about 0.5-1 diopters.


You might think it's a small difference, but this difference results in low-correction, which allows myopia to remain after surgery or 0.2 less vision after correction. 

Even if you operate with a good LASIK LASEK machine, you expect to look better than before, and you will be very upset if you do not meet your expectations due to low correction.

That's why we decided to invest in expensive ophthalmic equipment that allows us to accurately scan and view the retina without the need for eye drops. 

Also, the importance of optometrists' skills is as important as equipment.


In fact, since the test is conducted very sensitively, even small variables such as whether it is filmed after blinking or in a dry state, there are many differences in the curvature or length of the cornea. 

This error can be seen as determined by the optometrist's ability. That's why each optometrist has a different value even though they're using the same equipment.

And the results of this ophthalmology, soon determine the outcome of the surgery

Since we recognize that the results of the examination are so important, only two really talented optometrists are conducting tests at our hospital.
