I'm Dr. Kim Sun-young, medical director of Healing Eye Clinic in Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam, Seoul. I was a clinical professor of cornea and cataract surgery at a university hospital, and every week I see patients who have flown in, with an English interpreter on site.
Before anyone books a flight, the message is almost always the same: "Dr. Kim, roughly how much will this whole thing cost me?"
If you're searching how much does lasik cost in korea, I suspect you've already found surgery prices. What's harder to find is the total.
So here's my honest answer first: the surgery fee is only one line of your budget, and it's the one you control least until the exam. Let me walk you through the full list the way I'd explain it across my desk.
How much does LASIK cost in Korea, all in?
Most price pages answer a narrower question than the one you're really asking. They tell you what the operation costs. You need to know what the trip costs.
Here are the five lines I'd put on your budget, in the order they come up.
1. The surgery fee
This is the number you've seen. At our clinic, Premium LASIK or LASEK is ₩1,990,000 for both eyes (list price ₩2,190,000), and Clear LASIK is ₩2,700,000 for both eyes.
The catch is that you don't choose the line on the price list — your cornea does. Until we've measured thickness and shape, any figure is a guess.
2. The full pre-op exam
The exam is ₩150,000 and it's separate from the surgery.
It covers corneal thickness and topography, pupil size, tear film and eye pressure. Think of it as a structural survey before renovating a house. You pay for it even if the answer is "not this house".
3. Nights in Seoul
For LASIK, plan at least three nights: exam, surgery, next-day check. I recommend four.
If the exam points you to Perfect Healing LASEK, the protective lens has to come out before you fly, so budget about a week. That's the line people forget, and it can change your total more than the surgery choice does.
4. Flights you can move
Book a changeable fare. The exam may change the plan, and a cheap ticket you can't change can end up costing more than a flexible one.
5. Check-ups after you fly home
The one-week, one-month and three-month checks can be done by an ophthalmologist near you. We give you a written record — procedure, prescription, ablation depth, corneal thickness, drops — so they can take over.
What those visits cost depends on where you live, so ask your local clinic before you go.
Your real budget is surgery fee + ₩150,000 exam + three to seven nights in Seoul + a flexible flight + three check-ups at home. The exam decides which surgery line applies — and how many nights you need.
For the medical side of the decision, start with my overview of LASIK in Korea.
Why our price is the same for everyone
This is a rule I hold firmly: international patients pay exactly what Korean patients pay. No foreigner surcharge, no "package" that hides one.
You can check us rather than trust us. We hold 4.8 stars from 154 Google reviews, and I'm a full member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS). I mention these as things you can verify, not as boasts.
So what will my total look like?
Use this as a worksheet. The middle column tells you where each number comes from.
| Budget line | Where the number comes from | Our figure |
|---|---|---|
| Full pre-op exam | Our price list | ₩150,000 |
| Premium LASIK / LASEK, both eyes | Our price list | ₩1,990,000 |
| Clear LASIK, both eyes | Our price list | ₩2,700,000 |
| Nights in Seoul | Your hotel choice × 3–4 (LASEK: ~7) | You set it |
| Flights | Your airline, changeable fare | You set it |
| Checks at home | Your local ophthalmologist × 3 | You set it |
If you're over 40 and reading glasses are starting to appear, presbyopic LASIK or LASEK is ₩2,290,000 and presbyopic Clear LASIK is ₩3,000,000, both eyes. Every item is on our price page.
How to tell a fair quote from a sales quote is in what "best LASIK in Korea" should actually mean.

When the cheapest plan is not to operate
Part of an honest budget is knowing when the money shouldn't be spent at all. I ask people to wait, or to consider something else, when I see:
- A cornea too thin for the correction, or early signs of keratoconus
- Untreated dry eye — it gets treated first
- A prescription still changing within the last year
And LASIK has side effects worth budgeting time for: temporary dryness, night glare or halos, and some regression in higher prescriptions. Results vary from person to person. The Korean head office explains the same procedure on its Clear LASIK page.
Planning the trip around the budget
- Stop contact lenses first: at least a week for soft lenses, longer for rigid ones.
- We're one minute from Sinnonhyeon Station, about 70 minutes from Incheon Airport.
- Hours: Mon–Thu 10:00–18:30, Fri until 21:00, Sat until 14:00; closed Sundays and public holidays.
- Keep a buffer night. It costs less than a rebooked flight.
The step-by-step version, from first message to flight home, is in getting LASIK in Korea.
Don't pay for anything yet — get the numbers first
If you take one thing from this page: don't compare clinics on the surgery line alone. Compare what the whole trip costs, and who is responsible for your eyes once you've left.
Send us your current prescription, your age and your travel window on WhatsApp. I'll tell you which price line you're likely in — and if LASIK isn't right for your eyes, I'll tell you that too.
I hope to see you in Seoul.

Frequently asked questions
How much does LASIK cost in Korea at your clinic?
At our clinic, Premium LASIK or LASEK is ₩1,990,000 for both eyes and Clear LASIK is ₩2,700,000 for both eyes. The full pre-op exam is ₩150,000. International patients pay exactly what Korean patients pay, and the final quote is confirmed after the exam.
Is the exam included in the surgery price?
No, the full pre-op exam is a separate ₩150,000. It has to happen before any quote is final, because corneal thickness, topography and prescription decide which procedure you can have, and that decides the price.
What else should I budget for besides the surgery?
Flights, at least three nights in Seoul (four is safer), local transport, and the follow-up checks you will have at home at one week, one month and three months. If the exam points you to LASEK, budget about a week in Seoul instead.
Do foreigners pay more for LASIK in Korea?
Not at our clinic. International patients pay the same price as Korean patients, with no foreigner surcharge. If any clinic quotes you a separate 'foreigner price', ask what the difference is for.
Can I get an exact quote before I fly?
You can get a likely range before you fly, but not a final figure. Send your current prescription and age on WhatsApp and we can tell you which group you probably fall into. The exam in Seoul confirms it.
Why might my quote change after the exam?
Because the exam can move you to a different procedure. A cornea that is thinner than expected may point to LASEK or ICL instead of LASIK, and each has a different price and a different length of stay.
