I'm Dr. Kim Sun-young, medical director of Healing Eye Clinic in Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam, Seoul. I was a clinical professor of cornea and cataract surgery at a university hospital, and every week I welcome patients from abroad, with an English interpreter on site.
A first-time patient once asked me, half-joking: "Dr. Kim, what am I actually walking into? I've never been inside an eye clinic abroad."
If you've searched korea lasik clinic, you might be wondering the same thing. Not which clinic — just what it's like once you're through the door. That's a very reasonable thing to want to know.
So let me be honest: the most important room in a LASIK clinic isn't the operating room. It's the one where your measurements are taken and explained. Here's the visit, room by room, as you'd experience it with us.
What happens inside a Korea LASIK clinic?
We're on the 10th and 11th floors of Gangnam-daero 470, a minute's walk from Sinnonhyeon Station. Here's the order you move through.
1. Reception and your interpreter
You check in, and you meet the English interpreter who stays with you through the important conversations.
If you've stopped your contact lenses for long enough — a week for soft lenses, longer for rigid — this is where we confirm it. If you haven't, it's better to know now.
2. The measurement rooms
Here a series of devices measures your eyes. Corneal thickness and topography map the shape and depth of the cornea. We also measure pupil size, tear film and eye pressure.
It's a bit like a tailor taking every measurement before cutting. None of these measurements hurt, and none of them can be skipped.
3. The consultation with the surgeon
Then you sit with me and the interpreter. I put your corneal map on the screen and explain what it shows.
This is where the procedure is decided. It might be Clear LASIK, Personal Custom LASIK, LASEK, ICL — or "not yet".
4. Consent, in your language
Risks are explained with the interpreter in the room, and you sign only once you've understood.
I'd rather this take twenty minutes longer than have you sign something you're unsure about.
5. The operating room and the same-day check
Numbing drops, no injection. Both eyes usually take about ten minutes, and most people feel pressure rather than pain.
Afterwards your eyes may feel dry or gritty for a few hours. We check you before you go back to your hotel.
A LASIK visit runs reception → measurements → consultation → consent → surgery → same-day check. The measurements and the consultation decide everything after them, so they're the rooms to judge a clinic by.
How those measurements decide your procedure is in my overview of LASIK in Korea.
Why the same doctor is in every room that matters
The surgeon who explains your scan is the surgeon who operates and checks you the next morning. That's how we work, for every patient.
A few facts you can check. International patients pay the same price as Korean patients. We have 4.8 stars from 154 Google reviews. I'm a full member of ESCRS, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. These are for you to verify, not to impress you.
So what should I look for when I visit a clinic?
Whether you visit us or another clinic, these are the things worth noticing in each room.
| Room | What a careful clinic does |
|---|---|
| Reception | Confirms how long your lenses have been out |
| Measurements | Thickness, topography, pupil, tear film, pressure |
| Consultation | Shows you the scan behind the recommendation |
| Consent | Interpreter present, time for questions |
| After surgery | Same-day check before you leave |
What to ask clinics before you book is in what "best LASIK in Korea" should mean. If you'd like to see the devices first, the head office lists them on its equipment page.

Price. The full exam is ₩150,000. Premium LASIK or LASEK is ₩1,990,000 and Clear LASIK ₩2,700,000, both eyes. All prices are on our price page.
What I may tell you in the consultation room
Sometimes the consultation ends without surgery. I ask people to wait when I find:
- A cornea too thin for the correction, or early keratoconus signs
- Untreated dry eye
- A prescription still changing within the last year
And after LASIK, I want you to expect dryness for a while, possible night glare or halos, and in higher prescriptions some regression. Results vary from person to person.
Before you walk in
- Hours: Mon–Thu 10:00–18:30, Fri until 21:00, Sat until 14:00; closed Sundays and public holidays.
- Stay at least three nights, four if you can: exam, surgery, next-day check.
- About 70 minutes from Incheon Airport.
The day-by-day plan from your first message to the flight home is in getting LASIK in Korea.
Don't judge a clinic by its lobby
Lobbies are easy to make beautiful. Judge a clinic by what happens in the measurement room and the consultation room.
If you'd like to know what your own visit would look like, send your prescription, age and travel dates on WhatsApp. And if LASIK isn't the right answer for your eyes, I'll tell you that plainly.
I hope to welcome you in Seoul.

Frequently asked questions
What happens at a Korea LASIK clinic on the first visit?
You check in, have a series of measurements — corneal thickness and topography, pupil size, tear film, eye pressure — and then sit down with the surgeon and an interpreter to go through the results. The procedure is decided at that consultation, not before.
Who will I meet during the visit?
Reception staff, the staff who run the measurements, the English interpreter, and the surgeon. At our clinic the surgeon who reviews your results is the same doctor who operates and sees you the next day.
How does consent work if I don't speak Korean?
An English interpreter is in the room when your results are explained, when risks are discussed and when you sign the consent form. You should not sign anything you have not understood, and you can ask questions until you have.
What does the operating room feel like?
Numbing drops are used, with no injection. Both eyes usually take about ten minutes, and most people feel pressure rather than pain. We check your eyes again before you leave that day.
Where is the clinic?
Gangnam-daero 470, on the 10th and 11th floors, one minute from Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam, Seoul. It's about 70 minutes from Incheon Airport.
Can I see the equipment before I come?
Yes. The Korean head office lists the diagnostic and surgical equipment on its equipment page, and we're happy to explain what each device measures when you ask on WhatsApp.
