I'm Dr. Kim Sun-young, medical director of Healing Eye Clinic in Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam, Seoul. I was a clinical professor of cornea and cataract surgery at a university hospital, and every week I see patients who've flown in from abroad, with an English interpreter in the room from the first test to the consent form.
The question usually arrives with a spreadsheet behind it: "Dr. Kim, LASEK is the same price as LASIK on your list. So why do people say it costs more?"
If you're searching lasek in korea price, you've probably noticed the same thing. The number on the page is clear. The total for your trip is not.
So let me be honest first: the surgery price for LASEK is the same as LASIK here. What costs more is the week — and you should budget for it as part of the price, not as an extra.
LASEK in Korea price: what you're actually paying for
Here's how I walk a patient through the bill, in three parts.
1. The ₩1,990,000 package
LASEK sits inside our Premium LASIK & LASEK package: ₩1,990,000 for both eyes (list price ₩2,190,000). It includes the basic LASEK procedure, corneal cross-linking, autologous serum and SCOUT, plus one post-op visit to our dry-eye clinic.
Cross-linking is aimed at keeping the cornea strong. Autologous serum is eye drops made from your own blood, used to support a healing surface. I explain each item at the exam, so you know why it's there.
2. The exam, priced separately
The full pre-op exam is ₩150,000. It measures corneal thickness, the corneal map, pupils, tear film and eye pressure.
That exam also decides whether LASEK is the right procedure at all. If it isn't, you won't be charged for a package you shouldn't have.
3. The week in Seoul
This is the part no price list shows. With LASEK, the epithelium — the skin of the cornea — has to regrow under a protective lens. The first three to five days are the most uncomfortable.
You shouldn't fly before that lens comes out and I've checked the surface. So plan about a week. It's a bit like a cast: the fee is for the treatment, but the time is part of the cure.
The LASEK surgery fee is ₩1,990,000, the same as LASIK. The real difference is about a week of accommodation and time off, so put it in the budget from the start.
Who LASEK suits in the first place is in my LASEK in Korea surgeon's guide.
Why the price is the same for everyone
At our clinic, international patients pay exactly what Korean patients pay. There's no separate price list for foreigners.
The same doctor examines you, operates and checks the healing surface before you fly. With LASEK that matters, because the decision to let you board a plane is a medical one.
Things you can verify: we hold 4.8 stars from 154 Google reviews, and I'm a full member of ESCRS, the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons. I mention them so you have something to check, not to boast.
So what will the whole trip cost me?
Here's how I'd lay out the total. The clinic fees are fixed; the rest depends on your choices.
| Item | What to budget |
|---|---|
| Full pre-op exam | ₩150,000 |
| Premium LASIK & LASEK, both eyes | ₩1,990,000 (list ₩2,190,000) |
| Accommodation | About a week in Seoul |
| Flight | A changeable ticket |
| Follow-up at home | Local checks at 1 week, 1 month, 3 months |

Our partner hotel is O'Cloud Hotel in Seocho-gu, if that helps with planning; you're free to stay anywhere. If you're comparing LASEK with PRK quotes from other countries, PRK surgery cost in Korea explains how the two relate. All our fees are on the price page, and the procedure is described on our Perfect Healing LASEK page.
Side effects, and when the cheaper week is the wrong saving
LASEK is very stable once healed, but the road there has its costs.
- The first three to five days bring stinging, watering and grittiness while the surface regrows.
- Vision sharpens gradually over one to four weeks, more slowly than LASIK.
- Haze, night glare and halos can appear while the surface smooths out; corneal-protection care aims to reduce haze.
- Some regression over time is possible. Results and recovery vary between people.
If you truly can't stay about a week, LASEK is the wrong choice — LASIK or SMILE may suit you better, if your cornea allows. The Korean head office explains its LASEK protocol on its Perfect Healing LASEK page.
Practical notes for a LASEK week
- About seven days in Seoul, with a changeable return flight.
- Stop contact lenses first: at least one week for soft lenses, longer for rigid ones.
- Sunglasses and rest for the first days; screens will feel tiring.
- We're one minute from Sinnonhyeon Station, about 70 minutes from Incheon Airport.
- After you fly home, your one-week, one-month and three-month checks can be done locally with the written record we give you.
What each day of that week feels like is in LASEK recovery timeline.
Don't book on price — book the exam
₩1,990,000 is a clear number. But the right question isn't "is it cheap?" It's "is LASEK right for my cornea, and can I give it the week it needs?"
It doesn't have to be our clinic. Choose one that tells you the whole cost, including the time, before you pay a deposit.
Send your prescription, age and how many days you can stay on WhatsApp. If LASEK isn't right for your eyes or your schedule, I'll tell you plainly.
I hope to see you in Seoul.

Frequently asked questions
How much is LASEK in Korea at your clinic?
LASEK is in our Premium LASIK & LASEK package at ₩1,990,000 for both eyes (list price ₩2,190,000). The full pre-op exam is ₩150,000 and is listed separately.
What does the LASEK package include?
The basic LASEK procedure plus corneal cross-linking, autologous serum and SCOUT, along with one post-op dry-eye clinic visit. I explain each item at the exam, along with why your eye needs it.
Is LASEK more expensive than LASIK in Korea?
Not at our clinic — LASIK and LASEK sit in the same ₩1,990,000 package. The real difference is time: LASEK needs about a week in Seoul, LASIK at least three nights.
Why do I need to stay a week for LASEK?
Because you shouldn't fly before the protective lens comes out and I've checked that the surface has healed. The first three to five days are the most uncomfortable, and an airport is the wrong place to spend them.
Do foreigners pay more for LASEK?
No. International patients pay exactly what Korean patients pay, with no foreigner surcharge.
What else should I budget besides the package?
About a week of accommodation, a changeable flight, meals and transport in Seoul, sunglasses, and follow-up checks with a local eye doctor at one week, one month and three months.
