A post that says "20 minutes and I could see" rarely mentions anterior-chamber depth or endothelial count. Without those numbers, a story is a mood, not data. It's like reading a hotel review without knowing whether the guest wanted quiet or nightlife.

2. Separate the day-one feeling from the month-three result

Many posts are written the evening after surgery, when the relief is huge. Others are written months later about night halos.

Both can be true for the same person. The first week and the long term are different questions, and good threads say which one they're answering.

3. Look for who did the exam — and who operated

The detail I read first is whether the writer met the operating surgeon before surgery day.

Lens size is decided from your measurements. If the person who measured you isn't the person who implants the lens, that's worth a question, whatever the star rating.

4. Notice what nobody posts about

People who were told "not ICL for you" rarely write a thread. Neither do those who were sent toward LASEK instead.

That silent group matters. A clinic that says no sometimes is a clinic whose yeses mean something.

What the threads get right about the risks

Some posts are uncomfortable to read. Several of them are pointing at something real.

• Night halos and glare. More likely with larger pupils; often eases as you adapt. Details are in ICL halos and night vision.
• It is intraocular surgery. That's why eye pressure and endothelial cells are checked for years, not weeks.
• Not everyone qualifies. A shallow anterior chamber, low endothelial count, glaucoma or uveitis can rule it out or call for other options.

Planning your ICL trip to Seoul

• At least three nights: exam, surgery, next-day check. A fourth is a sensible buffer.
• Add one to two days if your lens must be ordered after the exam.
• Stop contact lenses first: at least a week for soft lenses, longer for rigid ones.
