I'm Dr. Kim Sun-young, medical director of Healing Eye Clinic in Sinnonhyeon, Gangnam, Seoul. I was a clinical professor of cornea and cataract surgery at a university hospital, and today I see international patients every week, with an English interpreter beside us while we go through the numbers.
Patients who have been told they need ICL often write with one worried line: "Dr. Kim, why is ICL more than twice the price of LASIK? Is it really worth it?"
If you're researching evo icl surgery cost in korea, you're probably holding the same question. I understand — it's a big number, and it helps to know what you're paying for.
So let me be honest first: with ICL you are paying for a lens that will live inside your eye, and for the measurements that make it fit. The price is published, and here is what sits behind it.
EVO ICL surgery cost in Korea: the two numbers
These are our current figures for both eyes, identical for Korean and international patients.
| EVO ICL option (both eyes) | Price |
|---|---|
| EVO ICL | ₩5,500,000 |
| EVO ICL Toric (astigmatism) | ₩6,000,000 |
| Full pre-op exam | ₩150,000 |
The list price before our current rate was ₩6,000,000 for EVO ICL and ₩6,500,000 for Toric. The complete list is on our price page.
Which of the two lines applies depends on one thing: whether you have enough astigmatism to need the Toric lens.
Why ICL costs more than laser: three reasons
I often compare it to shoes. Laser is having your old pair resoled; ICL is a pair made to measure. Both get you walking, but they are different jobs.
1. A physical lens, made to your measurements
Laser uses a machine to remove tissue from the cornea. Nothing stays behind except a reshaped surface.
ICL is different. A real lens is chosen for your eye's size and prescription and placed between the iris and your natural lens. The cornea is not touched. You are paying for that lens, not just for time in the operating room.
2. More measurements before surgery
Because the lens sits inside the eye, the space it sits in has to be measured precisely.
I check the depth of the chamber the lens enters, the diameter of the eye, the cell count of the cornea's inner layer, pupil size and eye pressure. These numbers decide the lens size and power. If they don't fit, I won't recommend ICL — whatever the price.
3. A longer relationship after surgery
With laser, the routine checks cluster in the first three months. With ICL, eye pressure and the cornea's inner cells are monitored periodically for the long term.
That ongoing care is part of what the price reflects. It's also why I'd rather you choose a clinic you can stay in touch with.
EVO ICL costs more than laser because it is a different job: a lens matched to your eye, a deeper set of measurements, and long-term monitoring. Compare it with those three things in mind, not with the LASIK line.
What "EVO" means in the lens design, and what happens on the day, is in EVO ICL surgery in Korea.
Why one price, for everyone
The principle is simple: international patients pay exactly what Korean patients pay. No surcharge for a foreign passport, and no package that hides what's inside.
What you can check before trusting us: we hold 4.8 stars from 154 reviews on Google. I was a clinical professor of cornea and cataract surgery, and I'm a full member of the European Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons (ESCRS).
I'm not listing these to impress you. I'm listing them so you have something to check. The Korean head office explains its ICL lens implant procedure for local patients too.
So is ICL worth the price for my eyes?
That depends on what your other options are. This is how I usually frame it.
| Your exam shows | What I'd usually suggest |
|---|---|
| Moderate myopia, thick enough cornea | Laser — simpler and lower cost |
| Very high myopia, often beyond -10D | EVO ICL |
| Thin cornea, or laser not advised | EVO ICL |
| High myopia plus astigmatism | EVO ICL Toric |
If laser can do the job safely, I'll say so — the difference stays in your pocket. A broader look at what drives an ICL quote is in ICL surgery cost in Korea.

Side effects, and who I turn away
ICL is intraocular surgery, and I want you to hear the risks from me.
- Night glare and halos. Some people notice them at first; many adapt over weeks.
- Eye pressure changes. That's why pressure is checked the next day and periodically afterwards.
- Lens position. Rarely a lens needs to be adjusted or exchanged — one reason it matters that ICL is removable.
I hold off on ICL when the chamber is shallow, when the cornea's inner cell count is low, or with glaucoma or uveitis risk factors until we've looked closely. Results and recovery vary from person to person.
Putting the whole trip together
- Nights in Seoul: the same three-to-four-night base as laser, plus one to two days if your lens has to be ordered.
- Stop contact lenses before the exam: at least a week for soft, longer for rigid.
- Flights: book a ticket you can change. The exam decides the plan.
- At home: one-week, one-month and three-month checks with your local doctor, using the written record we give you.
The practical side of the stay is in ICL surgery in Seoul, and the full first-timer route is in ICL surgery in Korea.
Don't pay for a lens yet — pay for the measurements
If you take one thing from this page, let it be this: the exam decides whether the lens price is worth paying at all.
It doesn't have to be our clinic. But choose one that shows you your chamber depth and cell count, explains the lens size, and tells you when laser would serve you just as well.
Send us your prescription, your age and your travel window on WhatsApp. If ICL isn't the right answer for you, I'll tell you plainly.
I hope to see you in Seoul.

Frequently asked questions
How much does EVO ICL surgery cost in Korea?
At our clinic EVO ICL is ₩5,500,000 for both eyes, and EVO ICL Toric, for astigmatism, is ₩6,000,000 for both eyes. The full pre-op exam is listed separately at ₩150,000. International patients pay the same price as Korean patients.
Why does ICL cost more than LASIK?
Because ICL puts a physical lens, made to your eye's measurements, inside the eye, and needs more measurements and longer follow-up than laser. Laser reshapes the cornea with a machine; ICL adds a lens and leaves the cornea untouched.
Why is Toric ICL more expensive than regular EVO ICL?
A Toric lens also corrects astigmatism, so it carries an astigmatism axis and has to sit at a precise angle in the eye. That makes it a different lens, with its own planning, and it is listed at ₩6,000,000 for both eyes instead of ₩5,500,000.
Does the ICL price include the exam?
On our list the full pre-op exam is a separate line at ₩150,000. Before you pay, ask us to put in writing exactly what your ICL quote covers, so there are no surprises in Seoul.
Can I get a cheaper ICL price if I'm a tourist?
No — and you shouldn't pay more either. We charge international and Korean patients exactly the same price, so there is no separate tourist rate in either direction.
Is it cheaper to have ICL in Korea than at home?
It depends on your country and on your trip costs. Add flights, four to six nights in Seoul and follow-up checks at home to the surgery price, then compare the total with what you would pay locally.
